Local History Workshops

Modernize History

Picture of round barn in Murray County Ever since Minnesotans started to actively preserve history in 1849 with the founding of the Minnesota Historical Society, they’ve always stood in the present and looked toward the future. Many people presume history is only about the past, but historical organizations know to stay relevant is to stay current.

This year’s Spring Workshop series will focus on collecting for the future and how to use technology to increase access to those collections. As always, you will have the opportunity to renew contact with your colleagues, learn some useful tips and tricks, and take a tour.

Local History workshops are primarily intended for volunteers and staff of local historical organizations in Minnesota. They are also appropriate for staff of libraries, schools, heritage preservation commissions, chambers of commerce, convention and visitor bureaus, and other cultural organizations. Interested members of the public are always welcome.

Fee: $25 per person before March 1, 2009. $30 per person after March 1. Includes materials, lunch, refreshments, and tour of local historic sites.
