An historical preservation project of the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, this book offers a collection of individual histories and reflections on South St. Paul and Minnesota's Fleming Field.

The Civil Aeronautics Act, signed by FDR in 1938, allowed civilian student pilots to obtain ground school training and flight instruction with government funding. These pilots included the famed “Tuskegee Airmen” and women who served in the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASPS). Approximately 2100 pilots received training at Fleming Field, which was deactivated at the end of the war, and sold to the City of South St. Paul for $1.00.
