Using a Depression-era travel guide and driving a classic Cadillac, Cathy Wurzer explores fascinating sites along the highway from the original border crossing, called the Outlaw Bridge, at the Pigeon River near Grand Portage, to the old Nemadji "Indian" Pottery site in Moose Lake, with stops at the gracious village of Old Frontenac and what used to be Bub's Brewery in Winona.

A dashing silent film star. A crusty old trapper and his movie star otters and the legendary Bob Dylan have all played big parts in making Highway 61 an iconic highway not only in Minnesota, but in the United States. The road runs through some of the most beautiful terrain in the state before heading south, all the way to New Orleans, Louisiana.
