About This Research Service: The Adjutant General Pension Registers are a series of ledger books showing who received pensions and to whom they were paid. MNHS holds registers of pension claims filed by veterans, or their dependents, who resided in Minnesota at the time the claim was made. This includes veterans from other states who later settled in Minnesota. The records list claimant’s name, date of filing, address, military unit, information to support claim, and action on claim. Widows or children of servicemen filed many of the applications.

  • Civil War Soliders and Sailors Database: The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System is a database containing information about the men who served in the Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War. Other information on the site includes histories of Union and Confederate regiments, links to descriptions of significant battles, and selected lists of prisoner-of-war records and cemetery records, which will be amended over time.
