Super Indian Comics Volume 1
Originally a series of radio plays developed and produced by Kickapoo tribe member Arigon Starr, Super Indian is a two-volume comic collection loaded with humor and love. “You can look at it as satire or parody — but underneath the yuks, it’s great to explore issues of identity, community and how Native folks are perceived,” said the author in an interview with Indian Country Media Network. Fans of both classic and modern superhero tales will love these stories. (Ages 10+)
Super Indian Volume One is a 64 page full-color book combining Super Indian Issue #2 ("Here Comes The Anthro"), Issue #3 ("Hubert's Blog") and Issue #4 ("Technoskin").
Creator/Writer/Artist Arigon Starr is a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma and was raised in various cities across the U.S. along with her Navy family. She’s been drawing since she could hold a pencil.
She’s produced cartoons, drawings and artwork for many organizations including Native Voices at the Autry, the Native Voice One Radio Service, rock group Queen, the Walt Disney Company (for their retail outlets), the National Park Service and other charitable groups around the U.S.
