Use this service to request a printout of a Minnesota State Census record that is notarized by library staff, stamped with the Minnesota State Archives citation stamp, and mailed to you.

The first Minnesota Territorial Census was taken in 1849, and was taken again in 1850, 1853, 1855, and 1857. After statehood was granted in 1858, the Minnesota State Census was taken every 10 years, in years that ended with a 5: 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895, and 1905. 1905 was the last year of the Minnesota State Census.

To order follow these steps:

  • Use Minnesota People Records Search to find the MN Census Record that you would like to have stamped and mailed to you.
  • Fill out this order form and provide us the name of the individual you would like, the certificate ID number, and the record URL from Minnesota People Records  Search. 

Staff will use the information you provide and mail you (via the United States Postal Service) the Minnesota Census Record stamped on the back with the Minnesota State Archives citation stamp. Citation includes the census year, county, and village/city/township.
