Railroad Employee Index Search

For this research service staff will search for one person in the personnel index to the Great Northern Railway (circa 1890s) or the Northern Pacific Railway (circa 1909-1960s).

Turnaround: Research is usually completed and sent within 60 business days.

About this research service:

MNHS holds indexes to employee records from the Great Northern Railway and the Northern Pacific Railway. 

Employee index records give basic information such as:

• Employee name
• Employee number
• Job title
• Location (city or division) - Great Northern only

If the person is found in the personnel index for either railway, staff will report whether the Minnesota Historical Society has a more complete personnel record for that employee. 

Note: many Northern Pacific Railway employee records are available through Ancestry.com
