Copy Request (Book or Article)

Copy Request (Book or Article)

Important
Please place one distance copy request at a time. When you've received your order, then you may enter another request. While one request is active, any additional orders will be canceled.

If you would like a large quantity of materials scanned -- multiple bound items, more than twenty folders from one box, etc. -- please email copy.services@mnhs.org with a list of the materials, and staff will get back to you with more information.

Requests for more than 300 pages from a book must be emailed to copyservices@mnhs.org for a price quote.

Notice Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

MNHS Image and Duplication Support for Community Projects

The Minnesota Historical Society offers some financial assistance to reduce the cost of reproduction orders placed by and for the use of some community groups. For more information and to see if you qualify, please see the MNHS Image and Duplication Support for Community Projects info page before placing this order.

Please be aware that Community Digitization requests can take quite a while to process and are much slower than standard requests.

The Copy Request (Book or Article) service can be used to request PDF scans of pages from books or articles from magazines/journals in the MNHS collection. This service is compliant with the restrictions of US Copyright Law.

Each customer can have one active copy request at a time. Additional orders will be canceled and refunded (less the $5 processing fee for orders that incur a charge).
